EMDR Intensive Therapy
What is an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Intensive?
EMDR Intensive’s are a dedicated set of time for an individual to process any traumatic memories that are still causing trauma symptoms. EMDR Intensive’s, are 3 day therapeutic sessions that allow a pure focus on difficult memories WITHOUT the interruptions of triggers that show up in our daily life. Sometimes, we can be doing good in our therapeutic goal accomplishment, and then life has away of adding more complexity. EMDR Intensives give a focus session and a goal of resolving any stuck or difficult memories that stop you from effectively navigating life’s challenges.
EMDR is a powerful therapeutic approach that helps address memories, negative beliefs we hold about ourselves, that often can stem from past experiences. Some of these negative beliefs can become deeply rooted like: “ I can’t trust”, “I am not worthy, or “I am a failure”. These beliefs impact our daily lives, how we see ourselves, others and how we connect with the world around us.
EMDR Intensive’s specifically target these painful or difficult memories and their beliefs; helping the brain to heal the pathways that may have become set patterns. When pathways in the brain become set, it can sometimes feel, like our own volition is over-ridden and the values we prize are disregarded. Through EMDR as we allow processing to occur, more adaptive, positive beliefs about yourself emerge and the values you hold dear become strengthened and resolute. This directly affects the way you feel, think, and respond to life’s challenges.
Who is best suited for an EMDR Intensive?
EMDR intensives are well suited for those who are aware of their self-defeating patterns, aware of triggers and either desire a resolve or the gift of lowering their reactivity to certain triggers. EMDR Intensives may not be beneficial for everyone and a required 45 minute consultation is required.
Individual’s pursuing EMDR Intensive’s need to have good stamina, a solid support group, the ability to stay focused on their painful memories and have good self care practices established.
EMDR Intensive’s are a valid and evidence-based proven protocol that can help address areas in our lives where we are stuck and unable to find the ground to move forward to. EMDR Intensives are good to be combined with your own therapeutic journey in partnership with other therapists or on their own.
Examples of working professionals who can benefit from EMDR Intensive’s would be: therapists, psychologists, teachers, pastor’s, medical professionals, or anyone else in the helping field who has experienced trauma that is impacting present daily life.
EMDR Intensives are focused sessions that help process difficult or painful memories that are stopping you from being your wise self and living your life in synch with the values you hold to be true for you.
